£75,000,000
The most expensive house in the UK outside London has just gone on sale for £75 million. Updown Court , in Windlesham, Surrey, is in 58 acres of grounds, has 103 rooms, five swimming pools, two penthouse apartments and a helipad.
It's a neoclassical Californian style mansion which was built in 2002 and is currently owned by property developer Leslie Allen-Vercoe. His company, Rhymer Investments bought the property in 2002 for £20 million and has since spent another £30 million on renovations.
The house has 24 bedrooms and 23 bathrooms, and other attributes include a 50 seat cinema, two-lane bowling alley, squash court, Lake, gymnasium, wine cellar and the all essential 'panic room.' Neighbours include Brian May and Sir Elton John.
Several estate agents have been brought in to market the property. If a 2% commission was applied, some lucky estate agent would make off with £150,000. However, if Mr. Leslie Allen-Vercoe sold it himself through DIY-Home-Selling.com by listing his pile himself, he'd be £150,000 better off, even if he has got a bob or two to chuck around!
